A barrier is nothing but any disturbance in the process of communication.
Main types of barriers to effective communication:
Linguistic Barriers
Bigger regions differ not only in language but dialect too.
For example, the states of a country differ in language. That’s why some employees may be outstanding in one language, but others may not.
Psychological Barriers
Stage fears, speech disorders, phobias, and depression come under the psychological barrier.
Emotional Barriers
An emotionally mature person will be able to communicate better. However, one who does not have a strong emotional IQ will not communicate effectively. Emotions such as anger, frustration, and humour will affect decision-making ability.
Physical Barriers
Noise, closed doors, faulty equipment, etc. used for communication come under physical barriers.
Cultural Barriers
Today due to globalization, there are differences in people’s dress, practice of different religions, eating and drinking, etc.
